I Left My Blues In Cuba

Ramon Goose & The Compadres

Nine tracks cut in Santiago de Cuba with a Cuban band. Six songs carried in from the blues and three written on the island.

It opens and closes with Peter Green — Black Magic Woman at the front, I Loved Another Woman at the back with Rick Vito, who played those songs in Fleetwood Mac, sitting in. In between it is son, guajira and Delta guitar in the same room, which is the whole point of the record.

Recorded at EGREM Studios, Santiago de Cuba. Released by ZOHO Records, New York.
Released 2026 on ZOHO Records — exact date to be announced.

Not streaming yet. The album goes up when ZOHO Records release it.

The Alejandro Almenares Sessions

In progress

A record made with Alejandro Almenares, the veteran guitarist from Santiago de Cuba and the last of the trova musicians of his generation still recording.

Rick Vito plays on it. Horns are still being tracked in Cuba. This one is not finished, and it is not being rushed.

Long Road To Tiznit 2017

Riverboat Records / World Music Network

Cut between London and Marrakesh — my own band on one side of it, Berber musicians on the other. Justin Adams plays guitar and Najma Akhtar sings in Urdu. Saharan grooves underneath old blues, Skip James and John Lee Hooker and R. L. Burnside, and a run of songs about people crossing borders: refugees, smugglers, the risk and the freedom in it. Tiznit is a town in the south of Morocco.

A solo acoustic record for the German label Acoustic Music: twelve tracks, some traditional and some mine. Police Dog Blues is there for Blind Blake, alongside I Want Jesus To Walk With Me, Take Me Out The City and Going Home. Fingerpicking and slide, one man and one guitar, and no band to hide behind.
